Case Study Details

Cementitious Urethane with Polyaspartic Topcoat

Client Overview

Epsilon Plastics Inc. is a film extrusion facility geared towards the production of garment bags and produce bags.  They are strategically located to serve apparel manufacturers, food service providers, laundry service businesses, retail garment clients coast to coast.  Their facility maintains strict quality control measures and maintains a 24-hour production schedule.

Challenges

The project was in the executive offices, corridors, and customer entrance to the facility.  The existing floor tile had to be removed with minimal disruption to daily operations.

Installment Process

The Liquid Floors team completed this project over a holiday weekend for our client.  Beginning on Thursday night we covered critical areas with poly to minimize dust from the floor prep process.  Existing floor tile was removed with chipping hammers and mastic removed with diamond grinding equipment.

Once the floor was fully prepared and clean, we installed 4″ integral cove base to the perimeter walls.  This is not only visually appealing but makes daily cleaning much easier for janitorial staff.  With cove in place our cementitious urethane system was installed with a decorative flake broadcast.

Urethane mortar floors provide an impact resistant surface and is more tolerant to moisture in the concrete than traditional epoxy floors.  The custom flake blend was designed to complement existing office aesthetics.  As a final topcoat polyaspartic was selected for its superior UV stability.  This will ensure the decorative flake blend is protected for years to come.

Results

Epsilon Plastics was extremely pleased with the new office flooring.  The hybrid flake blend gave their space an updated look, with minimal disruption during the installation process.  Our successful results completing this project led to other floor coating projects in the facilities production space.

Conclusion

Resinous flooring is a versatile industry with many different applications.  The decorative flake blend used on this project was blended specifically to match our clients existing aesthetics.  Their custom floor will provide a slip resistant, light reflective, and low maintenance surface for years to come
