HOW TO PLAN YOUR PROJECT
A concrete floor is one of the most fundamental investments in a facility. It also can be one of the most neglected when it comes to maintenance. Professional maintenance with a quality epoxy application and strategic polishing extends the life of a floor, reduces long-term costs, increases productivity, raises safety levels, and provides a significantly improved appearance. Simply put, taking care of your floors is one of the simplest ways to keep your facility running as it should.
A professional quality floor doesn’t just happen, however. It takes careful planning, wise choices, and follow-through. Here are the twelve steps for planning a successful floor refinishing project:
IDENTIFY NEEDS & CONCERNS OF FLOORING IN YOUR FACILITY
And/or material vendors to research options and determine the best solutions for your needs and budget.
OBTAIN QUOTES FROM REPUTABLE CONTRACTORS
EVALUATE QUOTES AND VET YOUR SELECTED CONTRACTOR
Do they have insurance, are they bondable, do they own their equipment or rent it, do they have the man power for your project, do they have the financial resources to back your project, do they understand your needs and concerns?
SCHEDULE YOUR PROJECT
If you are scheduling for a holiday shutdown you need to be ready to schedule at least six months out. Holiday shutdowns book well in advance.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AND CAN PROVIDE WHAT THE CONTRACTOR NEEDS
Power requirements, heat/cool requirements for products being installed, water, construction dumpsters, restrooms/break areas for the contractors.
INFORM YOUR PERSONNEL OF THE WORK THAT WILL BE TAKING PLACE
Make sure that they stay off the floor that is being worked on. Make sure they are aware of any materials that might have an odor – Some materials may require that they are not in the building during application.
HAVE THE AREA READY FOR WHEN YOUR CONTRACTOR ARRIVES
Equipment and materials moved out of the area or covered for protection, floor broom swept.
